Explore the world of the medieval knight with The Oakeshott Institute during these Hennipen County Library events. See actual swords and armor from the middle ages. Rewind the clock 800 years, try on pieces of armor and feel the weight of the metal plates that protected a knight in battle. Learn about a knight's training and what life was like for these heros on horseback. Find out what being a knight would really be like! Join us for these fun spring events!

Medieval Sword Lecture held on June 28th A great audience attended our first lecture event at The Oakeshott Institute this June.

| Lecture on The Medieval Sword An Introduction to the Medieval Sword will be presented at The Oakeshott Institute on Thursday June 28th at 7:00 pm. The medieval sword is an iconic artifact from our past, but much of its history has been obscured by misrepresentation in popular media. This presentation will highlight numerous aspects that define the medieval sword and explore some of the myths that surround it. Discover why the truth behind the sword is far more interesting than what the movies tell us. Admission: 10.00 per person, Institute Members 8.00, 12 and under free.

"On the Road" with Jason Davis showcases Arms and Armor and The Oakeshott InstituteIn mid-December, Jason Davis and his cameraman came to Arms and Armor to film pieces from the Oakeshott Institute's Collection. The last time Arms and Armor was featured on his show was before the Oakeshott Collection had arrived from England. In the feature Jason Davis shares footage of some of the Collection's wonderful historic pieces and highlights the progress of The Oakeshott Institute.
