Lecture on The Medieval Sword

An Introduction to the Medieval Sword will be presented at The Oakeshott Institute on Thursday June 28th at 7:00 pm. The medieval sword is an iconic artifact from our past, but much of its history has been obscured by misrepresentation in popular media. This presentation will highlight numerous aspects that define the medieval sword and explore some of the myths that surround it. Discover why the truth behind the sword is far more interesting than what the movies tell us.

Admission: 10.00 per person, Institute Members 8.00, 12 and under free.

Join us at the
Minneapolis Institute of Arts
for Arms, Armor, and Amore Family Day.

Sunday, February 11, 2007
11:00 AM - 5:00 PM, a Free event

Last year, our Arms and Armor presentation was one of the most highly attended Family Day events at the MIA! We could barely keep up with the hundreds of visitors eager to try on armor, and handle pieces from the Oakeshott Institute's collection.

We are thrilled to be invited back this February for another opportunity to share our knowledge of historical artifacts with children and adults of all ages. It promises to be a fun filled day. We hope to see you there!

"On the Road" with Jason Davis showcases Arms and Armor and The Oakeshott Institute

In mid-December, Jason Davis and his cameraman came to Arms and Armor to film pieces from the Oakeshott Institute's Collection. The last time Arms and Armor was featured on his show was before the Oakeshott Collection had arrived from England. In the feature Jason Davis shares footage of some of the Collection's wonderful historic pieces and highlights the progress of The Oakeshott Institute. Follow the link to watch the segment online at the "On the Road" on the Channel 5 Eyewitness News web page.

We are in the process of making a few changes to our website. Please excuse any inconvenience this causes while we are under renovation. We appreciate your patience.
