Join us for a free recording of our presentation about the ongoing 3D research at the Oakeshott Institute. From academic research to swords in video games, we’ll take a look at the various ways the Oakeshott Institute is utilizing 3D models to bring the collection in to the digital age. The talk covers the capture and processing of arms and armor, the use of the models to create an online 3D archive, as well as the future of 3D at the Oakeshott Institute.
Dale Utt is a cultural heritage 3D specialist, whose work is primarily focused on the capture of reflective objects through the use of photogrammetry. His most recent work has focused on the use of 3D models as aids in the act of reconstructing ancient artifacts. The results of these efforts can be seen soon in the upcoming exhibition “Revealing Krishna: Journey to Cambodia’s Sacred Mountain”, opening November 14th at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Also we may have a little something in the 3D Sword end for Skyrim Fans.
