Singlestick Making Workshop

Following in the wake of such successful Oakeshott Institute crafting classes as ‘Blacksmithing 101’ and ‘Make your own parrying dagger’, we are happy to announce our ‘Make your own singlestick’ class. A stout hickory stick mounted with a leather basket hilt has been use as a singlestick for sword training and tests of skill since at least the 18th Century.
 
You will learn to cut, stitch, tool, and harden the leather bell, and shape, sand, and finish the stick to your liking. All supplies will be provided included leather, a hickory stick, beeswax for hardening, thread, and all required tools.
 
Proceeds from the event support The Oakeshott Institute a 501 c(3) institution.
